Inventors of the CCD recieve Nobel Prize

Its now something that we take for granted, but a long time ago (ok not that long ago) people (including myself) used to have to capture images onto tiny frames of light sensitive emulsion to make pictures, then soup film and finally pull prints. Then in the late 1960’s a group of scientists worked on a project that would change the way we shoot pictures for ever. Willard S. Boyle and George E. Smith invented the first CCD or Charged Coupled Device. I’m pretty sure that at the time they had no idea what applications their invention would eventually be used for. I for one am excited about the award. I extend my congratulations to them and wonder why it took so long for them to be recognized. Read more about the inventors here.
