Canon Announces EOS 5D Mark II Firmware Update

UPDATE Links Added: This is big news regarding the firmware for the EOS 5D Mark II. DPReview.com is reporting the new update will include frame rates for 1080p Full HD footage at 24 fps (23.976) and will change the existing 30 fps to the NTSC standard of 29.97 fps-great news for budget film makers and news shooters who are producing documentary footage. Probably the biggest change comes with the addition of new audio features that allow users to set audio levels manually with an onscreen meter. The audio sampling rate will also be increased from 44.1KHz to 48KHz which is more standard for broadcast material. Good stuff. This is why Canon will remain at the top of the HD DSLR game for a long time. If they can put similar audio features into the EOS 7D, I will be a very happy person.

UPDATE: There is now a new behind the scenes video that shows some of the new features. You can check it out on the Canon Europe site here.
