Track is one my least favorite things to cover. There. I said it. There’s just something about trying to make pictures of people running that I really dislike. Shoot it tight, throw in a panning shot, low angle with a wide lens, I feel like I have tried it all. It seems like the schools that we cover rarely have any athletes that participate in the “interesting” track and field events. When I say interesting, what I mean is events like pole vault, high jump, long jump, discus or shot put. The events you don’t see very often. This year’s Liberty Bell Invitational was a big change. We actually had people to cover in these events. What a surprise that was!
That is definitely a great shot. My daughter runs track for her high school and now I am wondering if the local paper (Daily Breeze) feels the same way you do. I have to say they have taken some great shots of her running and some pretty bad ones as well. A local doctor who is an amateur photographer has taken the best shots I’ve seen of her. Not quite as good as yours but pretty close or at least in the ball park. You’re photographs are fabulous.
Thanks for the comment and for checking out the blog.
