Its been a busy weekend with several wildfires (I’ll have an upcoming post about covering that in the future) and lots of scheduling conflicts. I am also in the middle of moving to much cheaper living arrangements due to the rising cost of, well, everything lately. So anyway, I apologize for the lack of my regularly scheduled updates. Here’s a couple from sports assignments last week.

Nice shots. I am going to be photographing my daughter’s track meet and soccer games coming up. I will be using my 70-200 2.8. Any advice to get a shallow depth of field in the bright sun? Did you use an ND filter or should I be OK? Thanks and I enjoy seeing your periodic photos.
The key to shooting wide open in direct sun is to drop your ISO as low as possible and maintain a high enough shutter speed. I shoot at around ISO 100 or 200, at f2.8, with the shutter speed up around 1/2000th.
