An Odd Assignment to End 2012

Medical marijuana and the legalization of its possession for adults is a hot topic in the United States. Regulation at the state level is little like the wild west right now. As quick as pot shops are opening cities are working to ban and create stricter regulations just as fast. In Dacono, the city voted to place an outright ban on the sales of marijuana effective Jan. 1, 2013. To comply with the regulation, the owner of Dacono Meds had to destroy his remaining inventory. I assumed he would just burn the plants or let them die under the heat of the grow lights. Instead, he hired a landscaping company to shred the plants with a commercial chipper/shredder. An odd way to dispose of them for sure.

I’ll just get this out of the way. Shredding the plants and blowing the mulch onto a tarp really put a lot of it into the air. I felt a little under the weather after this assignment. Ahem. Anyway, I have to wonder how many more of these assignments I will go on as Colorado continues to wrestle with the federal government and the will of the people.
