I made this picture a couple of weeks ago during the first snow storm of the new year. It was actually new years eve but it continued to snow so I am gonna stick with that idea. I don’t go out and make weather pictures for every snowfall or rain storm. Sometimes its nice to have a little break from sports assignments and environmental portraits (which makes up a majority of my work load each week). I was really going for a feeling of cold and solitude. I think that is probably how I was feeling anyway as most of the staff decided to make it a 3 day weekend.

The Annual Cannon Concert at Clement Park

The Denver Municipal Band Wind Festival is part of the Free Foothills Summer Concert Series at Clement Park. Every year they bring out a bunch of reproduction cannons (that’s weapons, not Canon cameras), to fire off during the 1812 Overture. It draws a pretty big crowd and makes for some interesting photos. Note to self: don’t forget earplugs.

Polar Plunge at Chatfield Reservoir

That’s pretty much the same reaction I would have if I was standing ankle deep in 33 degree water. The 2nd annual Polar Plunge to benefit the Special Olympics took place on Saturday, Dec. 5 2009 at Chatfield Reservoir. As usual they had a great turnout and raised a ton of money. Its assignments like this one that makes me love what I do. There’s not much else I can say, so enjoy the photos and be glad you stayed dry.
